Privacy Policy
Auto Picture-in-Picture · Last updated: July 6, 2026
Auto Picture-in-Picture ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides automatic and manual Picture-in-Picture for HTML5 videos, and allows users to pin webpage elements to a floating window. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles information.
Summary
The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to the developer or any third party. All processing happens locally in your browser.
Information We Do Not Collect
The Extension does not collect, sell, rent, or share:
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
- Health, financial, or authentication data
- Communications, location data, or browsing history
- Keystrokes, mouse activity, or other user activity tracking
- Website content for analytics or advertising purposes
Local Storage
The Extension saves the following settings only, locally in your
browser using the Chrome storage API (and Chrome Sync, if enabled in
your browser):
- Whether the extension is enabled or disabled
- Auto-exit on tab return preference
- Optional site blacklist (domains you choose to exclude)
These settings remain in your browser. The developer does not have access to them and cannot retrieve them remotely.
Page Access
The Extension requires access to web pages to function. Specifically, it:
- Detects HTML5
<video>elements to enable Picture-in-Picture - Interacts with webpage elements only when you explicitly choose to pin an element
- Responds to user-initiated actions (popup clicks, keyboard shortcuts, on-video button)
This processing occurs entirely on your device. The Extension does not read passwords, payment information, form data, emails, or browsing history, and does not transmit page content to external servers.
Permissions Explained
- storage — Save your extension preferences locally
- activeTab — Act on the tab you are viewing when you use the popup or shortcuts
- scripting — Inject the content script if needed after a user action
- tabs — Send commands to the correct active tab
- Host access — Enable PiP on any website where you watch videos or pin elements
Third Parties
The Extension does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or remote code. All extension code is included in the package published on the Chrome Web Store. No data is sold or transferred to third parties.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the Extension changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
